Reversing a Website Split: 51% More Organic Search for a Senior Living Group
A previous agency split Living Care Lifestyles' website into six, and their search traffic fell with it. We rebuilt it as one site, then worked alongside their SEO agency to keep improving it. Organic search sessions rose 51% in the first year.

Living Care Lifestyles runs five Quail Park senior living communities across California and Washington. Their previous agency took what had been one central website and split it into six: a corporate site plus a separate site and domain for each community. Each community started over on a brand-new domain, with none of the search authority the main site had built up, and search traffic and site visits fell sharply. The marketing team needed that traffic back, and they needed one site they could actually run.
What We Did
We rebuilt everything as one WordPress site in the fall of 2024: the corporate site plus the Cypress, Shannon Ranch, Lynnwood, Visalia and West Seattle community sites, on a custom page builder the marketing team edits themselves. We carried over each community's blog posts, redirected the old community domains to their new pages, and cleaned up the leftover 404s after launch using target URLs from their SEO agency. The site went live in December 2024, and we've hosted and supported it on retainer since, handling about 60 tickets so far. We aren't their SEO agency, and we don't try to be. Their SEO agency sets strategy and runs regular technical audits. We implement the fixes.
Why this matters for marketing leaders
We work with large single-URL sites and multi-brand portfolios all the time, and either one can be the right call. Treat this one as a cautionary tale about switching from one to the other. The switch changes every URL search engines know about, so it has to be planned carefully, page by page: what redirects where, what content carries over, and how each location keeps its standing in search. Here, it wasn't, and we had to fix everything and put it back together. We know technical SEO well enough to do that work right and to flag problems before they cost you traffic. We are not an SEO agency. We work alongside yours, turning their recommendations into shipped fixes.
